Katie is my daughter-in-law's sister. When your family wants to pay you to photograph their wedding it is the ultimate compliment and I jumped at the chance when Katie asked me. Later, Katie told me that the moment she met Mike she had a strange feeling in her stomach and somehow knew she was going to marry him. She remembers that moment so well because she looked into the mirror and said herself “you’re crazy for thinking that”. That was almost 7 years ago…..She never told Mike but she ending up sharing the story on her wedding day in front of all of her guests at the reception...There were smiles everywhere as she shared it!
Katie got ready in a beautiful suite at the Marriott in downtown Baltimore. It was right on the water and the view from her upper-floor room was truly stunning. Katie and Mike had their first look right on the water with their bridal party looking on from a distance. Even the pedestrians stoped to watch! (That's one of the very cool things about first looks, which are always totally optional. It can just be the couple with Kathy and me, or you can have your parents, maid of honor and best man, or whole bridal party looking on.)
From the waterfront we hopped on a party bus and drove around the city taking pictures at locations that had meaning to Katie and Mike. From there is was on to a bar called Little Havana, where they had their reception. I'd never photographed a wedding in a bar before, and it was really cool The whole wedding weekend? It was amazing.
