What makes me, me?
I developed my own pictures in my father's darkroom when I was 10 years old.
I was always the devoted dad with the big camera at my kid's soccer games.
I love dogs. That's Oreo on the right (or at the top if you are viewing this on a mobile device). He's my now two-year-old sheepadoodle. This picture was taken when we were hiking in the North Carolina mountains.
Bruce Springsteen is my favorite music artist. I have traveled around the country to go to his concerts. I stopped counting at 50 shows.
In the summer I love driving my 13 year old Porsche Boxster, top down, music blaring.
I have so much fun photographing weddings that I don't feel like I'm working.
I've entered images in the prestigious Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI) print competition, where in 2018 I won 2nd place and a gold award and a silver award, both in the Wedding Photojournalism category. In 2016 and 2015 I also won Silver awards. See the images here on my Awards page.
I'm creative, very organized, and fun
My life is filled with happiness.
In May of this year I'm visiting North and South Dakota, two of the three states I've never been to. I'm only missing Idaho!
In 2019 I photographed my 150th wedding.
My travel has really helped fuel my creativity. I love photographing people and cultures. Here is one of my favorites, taken on the Moscow river in Moscow on almost the longest day of the year. I was walking around a bend, it was almost midnight with an ethereal glow in the sky, and there they were. People partying and salsa dancing.
As your photographer my goal is to capture your unique personality, your emotion, and your natural expressions. I want you to see your images and say "Wow, that's incredible, or "OMG, that's the way I felt. I will remember that moment for the rest of my life."
My technical skills go well beyond photography. I'm a digital artist and my style is imprinted on every one of my images. It's a lot different than when you hire a company and you don't know which photographer will show up.
When you hire me you are commissioning my artistic vision.
